| Characteristics | Autoecious macrocyclic rust fungus. Rust-infected shoots densely branched with malformed leaves. Spermogonia on stipules, subepidermal, 110–140 µm wide × 115–150 µm high; aecia on adaxial leaf surface, Caeoma-type, yellow or orange, producing aeciospores 25–48 × 21–30 µm, aciculate wall. Uredinia minute, abaxial, producing urediniospores 18–28 × 17–28 µm, echinulate. Telia produced similarly, teliospores 32–55 × 27–43 µm, thin-walled, smooth, four-celled metabasidia formed upon maturity. |
